A bit about Cruse

We support hundreds of people every year who are struggling as a result of someone dying. We are part of a national charity and serve the area of Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham. Our service has been operating since 1981 and is free to people who need it.

We are responsible for raising our own funds and rely on donations to pay for the cost of running our office and providing quality services in accordance with best practice to safeguard everyone involved. This means our volunteers are supported by supervisors, who also receive supervision support. This ensures all of us can continue to stay resilient and energised to work appropriately with grieving clients.

Less than 10% of our funding comes from the taxpayer through a small grant from the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, and the remainder comes from private sources such as individual contributions from people like you.
None of our bereavement volunteers is paid

Cruse is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and follows its guidelines and ethical framework. Our local office, serving the Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham area, also complies with the governance requirements of the national Cruse charity, which means we have a management committee responsible for meeting the quality and service standard for our local office. Under this leadership, our client services committee focuses exclusively on services provided to clients, and our fundraising committee concentrates on supporting the financial soundness of our office so we can continue to help bereaved people.
